Welcome to Trezor®
Trezor® is a secure, offline hardware wallet designed to protect your cryptocurrencies from theft, phishing, and malware. If you’ve just received your new Trezor® device, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get started securely.
To begin, always use the official Trezor portal: https://trezor.io/start
1. What's in the Box?
- Trezor® device (Model One or Model T)
- USB cable
- Recovery seed card(s)
- Getting started leaflet
- Stickers and/or accessories
Before setup, ensure your Trezor® came in its original packaging with intact holographic seals.
2. Visit Trezor.io/Start
Open a browser and go to Trezor.io/Start. This is Trezor’s official setup site. Choose your device model to proceed.
You’ll be asked to download Trezor Suite — a desktop application that allows you to manage crypto securely.
3. Install Trezor Suite
Select your operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux. Download the installation file, open it, and follow the instructions.
After installation, launch Trezor Suite. It will prompt you to connect your Trezor device.
4. Connect and Begin Setup
- Connect your device using the USB cable
- Wait for Trezor Suite to detect your device
- Install firmware if prompted (new devices ship without it)
- Confirm all steps on the Trezor screen physically
This ensures only you can approve actions on your wallet.
5. Create a New Wallet
After firmware installation, choose Create new wallet. Your device will now generate a unique 12 or 24-word recovery seed.
- Write the words down in the exact order shown
- Use the paper card provided or another secure offline method
- Never take photos or save digitally
6. Set Your PIN
Your PIN adds local protection. Each time you connect the Trezor®, you’ll enter your PIN before accessing funds.
Choose a random, strong number and do not reuse passwords or PINs from elsewhere.
7. Add Cryptocurrency Accounts
In Trezor Suite, go to the “Accounts” tab and click “Add account”. Select a coin like Bitcoin, Ethereum, or others. Trezor supports over 1000 coins and tokens.
The device will confirm each step and sync your wallet addresses.
8. Send and Receive Crypto
Receiving:
- Click “Receive” and copy your address
- Verify the address on your Trezor screen
- Use this address to accept funds securely
